We've marveled time and time again at the artistry involved in makeup application, and Halloween in the perfect time to showcase those abilities. We know that gore isn't everyone's style, so Nepalese makeup artist Promise Phan (also known as Promise Tamang Phan) offers a unique makeup look that's equal parts impressive and creepy. She definitively proves that blood and guts are not the only way to turn heads.

Using only beauty makeup (no special effects supplies necessary!), this artist creates a brain-melting optical illusion. Phan refers to this effect as "Trippy Double Vision," and we have to agree with her assessment. By strategically painting on another set of facial features with stunning realism, Phan leaves us temporarily confounded as we attempt to determine where her real eyes, nose, and mouth lie. The illusion is mind-blowing, but proceed with caution: in the YouTube video description, Phan warns, "Staring at it too long can make your brains hurt. So beware."

Phan's YouTube channel is a source of constant awe. Over the past five years, she has harnessed the power to makeup to transform herself into countless celebrities and character with unparalleled accuracy. Her Angelina Jolie transformation had us doing a double-take, and her Elsa from Disney's Frozen makeup look is spot-on. What's even more impressive is that Phan is purely self-taught and began these amazing transformations as a hobby. 3,390,021 subscribers and 606,233,283 views later, she continues to wow us all.

Watch the video below to see Phan in action, and let us know what you think of this incredible display of skill in the comments below.
